Leryn Franco’s London Olympics Are Over – Quickly [PHOTOS]
Hope you didn’t blink while watching the javelin feed this morning on NBCOlympics.com. If so, you missed Leryn Franco finishing 18th out of 21 competitors in her group and near last overall. The Nike model had a best throw of 51.45m , while 60m was a qualifying distance. In other words, she was there to be photographed wearing her Nike gear.
For Americans, you probably won’t be seeing her tonight on NBC. It’s OK, we’ll keep driving the story of a Nike model who hasn’t won a javelin event since 2004. How sad was Leryn’s toss this morning? Her personal best of 55m was set in 2007. Again, it would’ve taken 60m to even qualify for the medal round.
It’s hard to believe, but this is now Franco’s third Olympics; she went to Athens as a 22-year-old and finished 21st.
Is it time for Paraguay to give another young bikini model a chance at Brazil 2016? As long as she’s a 9.5-10.
