Nick Johnson Projected To Go 0-For-233 In 2012 After 0-For-23 Start!

‚ By

Still holding Nick Johnson in your A.L. fantasy league? We have bad news for you fantasy dorks. According to ESPN’s MLB projectors, the Orioles DH, who is off to a hot 0-for-23 start, will go an entire year without getting a hit. Of course it’s crazy, but then again Johnson is well into April without slapping one through the infield.

Who has the worst batting average in MLB history (minimum of one hit)? A pitcher.

.016 Doug Davis 1-64 (2004)
.016 Mark Redman 1-61 (2003)
.016 Roger Craig 1-61 (1956)
.016 Rip Hagerman 1-61 (1914)
.017 Les Tietje 1-59 (1934)
.018 Bill Hands 1-57 (1972)
.018 Eddie Lopat 1-57 (1954)
.018 John Burkett 1-55 (1992)
.019 Carlton Wiley 1-54 (1961)
.019 Al Leiter 1-53 (2003)

As for position players, the worst are:

Skeeter Shelton – .025 in 1915.

Corky Miller – .026 in 2004.

Yes, Johnson is in a DH rotation for the Orioles so he won’t see action on a consistent basis. The team is off tonight before starting a home series against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. No word if Nick will get his shot at busting through the hit column againstHenderson Alvarez. Of course we’ll be watching.
