Miami Heat Supporting Trayvon Martin With Hoodie Tribute [PHOTO]

‚ By

The Miami Heat brought a little extra attention to the story of Trayvon Martin today after they tweeted a team photo where everyone is wearing a hoodie and has their head bowed.

Martin was the 17-year-old Florida boy shot by 28-year-old George Zimmerman in February. Zimmerman, who claims he shot Martin in self defense, was trying to detain Martin when the incident happened because he thought he looked suspicious. Presumably, Zimmerman thought Martin looked suspicious because he was wearing a hoodie. This has quickly become a race issue — Martin was black and Zimmerman is Hispanic.

The Heat have obviously been moved by the situation. Someone who hasn’t is TV news legend Geraldo.

He took to Twitter to blame Martin for dressing like a presumed thug.

  • His hoodie killed Trayvon Martin as surely as George Zimmerman.
  • Justice will come to Zimmerman the Fla shooter-but I’m trying to save lives like Trayvon’s-Parents Alert: hoodies can get your kid killed
  • My own son just wrote to say he’s ashamed of my position re hoodies-still I feel parents must do whatever they can to keep their kids safe
  • Its not blaming the victim Its common sense-look like a gangsta&some armed schmuck will take you at your word

Of course, he got slammed by mostly everyone and we’d say with good reason.
