Former Yankees Savior Brien Taylor Popped On Coke Trafficking Charges
Remember Yankees #1 draft pick Brien Taylor? Yeah, he was Josh Hamilton minus the white skin and ability to hit dongs. His left arm was supposed to win multiple World Series titles and he would eventually have broads hanging from arms and legs. Yeah, so then he went and tried to fight a guy on December 18, 1993. A dislocated left shoulder and torn labrum later, this guy was the biggest bust in Yankees history. Now he’s charged with cocaine trafficking.
Brien McKeiver Taylor, 40, of Beaufort was arrested Thursday as the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office and the Morehead City Police Department wrapped up an operation during which undercover narcotics agents purchased a large quantity of cocaine and crack cocaine from Taylor over a period of several months, according to the CCSO news release.
Taylor is charged with two counts each of trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by sell, trafficking in cocaine by deliver, trafficking in cocaine by manufacture, trafficking in cocaine by transport, and felony maintaining a vehicle.
Taylor signed with the Yankees in 1991 and cashed a $1.55 million signing bonus. He won 3 games over 5 years after the shoulder injury. In 1997 he had 52 walks in 27 IP.
So the guess is that he didn’t put much of the money away for a rainy day in 2012. Kinda makes us wonder if they’ll rename the street in Beaufort that they named after Brien Taylor. This guy really could lose it all.
