Did you expect anything less from Busted Coverage and Coed from the GQ party last night here in Indianapolis? We gave the lovely Ashley Salazar (@ashleycmsalazar) a microphone, access to famous athletes/celebrities and let her go wild getting comments from men who were enamored with our sideline reporter. Was it a lack of journalistic etiquette when she got on stage to dance with LL Cool J? Like we care. GQ wanted to have a party, so we had a party.
Names in attendance at the Stutz Business Center for the event, sponsored by GQ, Patron, Lacoste and our partners at YardBarker.com, included: Andy Roddick, Troy Aikman, Greg Jennings, Hines Ward, David Arquette, Giants chairman Steve Tisch, Erin Andrews and T.O. Hipster Adam Levine was fashionably late, arriving as the party was winding down and not looking to chat.
Tisch, not a name that was on our radar to begin the night, proved to be one of our favorite guests as he flashed his Super Bowl champions ring. Steve’s right arm nearly had to be pried away from Ashley’s waist.
Those in attendance were invited to indulge in a variety of specialty tequila drinks, finger foods, plus unlimited foosball and air hockey.
But the real fun for us was letting Ashley live out a dream to work a red carpet and ask a variety of questions to her celebrity heros. What did she ask? Can’t really remember, but the men stopping to meet with Ashley didn’t seem to mind her Katie Couric line of questioning such as this one for Andy Roddick.
“What’s the first thing you’re going to do when you go into the party?”
Roddick, seemingly not used to zingers like that one, didn’t get all cliché-ish for Ashley.
“Probably grab a beer,” he said.
While other red carpet sideline reporters left the GQ party to visit other parties, check their Facebook accounts and get beauty sleep, Ashley kept her end of the bargain when we hired her for this Super Bowl party gig. She allowed men to snap photos with her, did her thing on stage with LL and mingled with the invited guests.
While E! and the Today Show and Extra! left in their private rides, Ashley told us she was cool with walking five blocks in heals back to downtown Indy to get our rental car. If last night was any indication, Ms. Salazar might have found her niche as a red carpet reporter.
In the end, GQ seemed smitten.
