Seriously, UAB? No, be serious. 8,872 was the announced crowd last night for your game against Central Florida? Somebody is being generous to your ass because as we can see from the photo and video provided, that’s the UAB side and there are small pockets of 20-30 people. Add in the band and you might have 900. It’s not like UCF traveled very well. You think they’re leaving Orlando for cold ass Birmingham? Yeah, right.
Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News wasted very little time this morning calling out the home fans.
Crowd isn’t the word anyone would use to describe this intimate gathering – the announced “attendance” was 8,872 – which makes what the Blazers did on the field all the more remarkable. Despite an 0-6 start, the memory of a 35-point beatdown in this game a year ago and the total absence of any home-field advantage, UAB delivered an inspired performance.
As much as Callaway has advanced the program, Legion Field has held it back. How do you convince recruits that you’re serious about football when your home field is a dinosaur whose better days were decades ago?
Hot chicks? Free blow? Credit cards with $10,000 monthly limits? Want to know how bad things have gotten for UABers? This is rock bottom.
@jimdunaway UAB football 2nite crowd is so small, during Blazer Walk, fans walked thru team n2 stadium

UAB really brought the crowd tonight. I think the whole state might be there.
What isn’t mentioned by the Twitter-tards is that UAB shouldn’t be playing Thursday night crowds if it wants to sell seats. Um, people with any sort of sense aren’t venturing into the Legion Field area after dark, if you know what we’re saying.
Take a look for yourself on Google Maps. It’s a fkin war zone. Bullets and King Cobra are flying all around your $100,000 RV. Nah, we’ll pass.
