Red Sox Nation is in mourning after a 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles put their team out of the playoffs, last night.

The Tampa Bay Rays took their place as the AL wild card team after erasing a 7-0 deficit and beating the New York Yankees in 12 innings.

The Sox had a nine-game lead in the wild card race on September 3, but were 7-19 in the month entering last night’s game. They’re the first team to miss the playoffs after holding a nine-game lead on a playoff spot entering September.

Outside of Boston, the rest of us are pretty happy we won’t have to listen to those insufferable pricks talk about how great their Sawks are, but hey, we feel your pain… at least a little.
