From The Couch: Texas A&M, Arkansas Fan Representin' At NCAA Golf Championship
Arkansas fan in the house at NCAA Golf Championship in Toledo.
We actually got our asses off the couch this weekend and hit the first ever NCAA men’s golf match play golf championship. It was Arkansas vs. Texas A&M in the finale and what looked like an easy win for A&M turned into one of the greatest (if not greatest) golf finishes in NCAA history.
Too bad this one isn’t getting play on ESPN. It was amazing.
Bronson Burgoon, A&M’s #1 golfer, hit a shot to within 3 inches on 18 for a gimme putt to win the title.
Busted Coverage could use your help on this one. Have a shot from your television that deserves to be seen by the masses?
Take a photo and send it to us. We’ll make you famous.
Spaceballs, anyone?
Only disappointment for the tournament:
–No beer.
Awesome aspect of tournament:
–Fans were allowed to follow the final pairing down the fairways just like at the British Open, creating a spectacle unlike any you’ll see in American golf.
Other than the one beer issue, this could be the next college sport to have a huge surge in popularity at the championship level.
Mark our words, ESPN will take a flyer on this championship (U., perhaps) in the next 5 years.
The scene at 17: Bronson Burgoon on the hill with gallery in fairway.
