Welcome to the 2008 Busted Coverage Sports Blogger of the Year – East Region

This is the toughest region as Deadspin faces a possible Elite 8 matchup against MLB Trade Rumors who will bring it with thousands of geeky baseball dorks with little to do other than crunch on-base percentages and vote for their favorite blog.

The Deadspinners gets a huge first-round challenge from Wizard of Odds.

The one sleeper you should watch for is Need 4 Sheed. These Detroit people want to win at least one thing in 2008.

An upset special – MetsBlog over MLB Trade Rumors. Remember, last year Mets fans went all the way to the title game.

All seedings based on BallHype rankings!

First round ends Friday night at 11 p.m. EST

NCAA-style bracket and voting after the jump. Commenting is also open for instant trash talk.

So…if your 'upset alert' is MetsBlog over MLB Trade Rumors does that mean the first round match-up against WFNY is a foregone conclusion?

  2. J Koot says:

Yes, unless you have a miracle plan.

MetsBlog will show up pretty soon and it'll get ugly.

    It was runner-up last year.

  3. Kevin says:

Fittingly, MetsBlog is coming up short.

Man, Cuzoogle vs. Empty the Bench is a tough call for me. I really like both of those…

  5. Bill says:

The real upset winner here is gonna be MouthpieceSports.com. Insider videos from athletes. Awesome. The Corrazza blog on the site is the best one I've seen years.

"These Detroit people want to win at least one thing in 2008"?

Have you forgotten that, if not the pistons (which is no given), we most certainly have the redwings?

The Lions don't speak for all of detroit.

  7. VJ says:

Need4Sheed is one of the most overhyped sports blogs on the net. Using cartoon faces and goofy videos to mask pedestrian bandwagon fanhood and zero talent seems to work wonders. Good grief.

I'll stick to Detroit Bad Boys.
