Honestly it wasn’t supposed to be LSU/Alabama day around here.
Just turned out that way.
And took a sad turn when we came across a nugget of news out of southern Alabama where an argument over the game took a tragic turn as an Alabama fan is accused of blasting two LSU fans.
Dead. Murder charges reports the Mobile Press-Register.
Investigators said witnesses told them that Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, a fan of the Crimson Tide, after the game Saturday evening and an argument ensued.
Soon, the Smiths arrived at Williams’ home and the men wound up in a physical altercation, officers said.
Smith retrieved a pistol from his vehicle, and threatened Williams, who armed himself with a shotgun and fired two blasts, striking and killing Dennis Smith, officers said.
The wife of Dennis Smith was killed after she threatened the Alabama fan. Not surprisingly alcohol is said to be a factor in the murders.
We’ve never stepped on the soil of Alabama or Louisiana so we have no way of really understanding these people.
It might be time for SEC fans to chill. Burning effigy’s, calling coaches Satan, fans killing fans, etc. is not exactly becoming of a proud conference.
We’re all for drinking some beer and acting silly, maybe a little trash talk.
Anyone else think things have gone a little too far when fans are killing fans?
