Ohio State Moves Varsity Club To New Orleans For BCS Championship
This is why Ohio State is playing in the National Championship game.
They travel like any other team in college football. They travel so well a bar in the French Quarter has been transformed into the Varsity Club of New Orleans.
The Ernst Cafe is 106 years old and has withstood flooding, Hurricane Katrina and now must withstand multiple days of hard-partying drunks from Ohio.
The most significant barroom feature, however, is a red urn that sits above the cash register and holds the ashes of Jim Monaghan Sr.
“He still likes to keep an eye on the money,” Monaghan said. “My father was a son of Ohio and a son of the world.”
