The Buzz: From the Detroit Free Press, Purdue hasn’t played an opponent twice in a season since 1898, and it hasn’t happened to CMU since World War II. Since that September loss to the Boilermakers, the Chippewas went on to win a second straight Mid-American Conference championship. Purdue lost five of its last seven games, including its last three. This is Central’s second straight trip to the Motor City Bowl and first under coach Butch Jones, who is a candidate for the West Virginia job.
